West Bengal BJP and TMC Trade Blame Over Camac Street Office Attack

Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar ridiculed the TMC’s sudden shift in strategy, noting that the ruling party previously mocked BJP leaders for seeking gubernatorial intervention during earlier political disputes. Majumdar suggested the current outreach is hypocritical, given the TMC’s past stance on the Governor's office. The tension stems from an early morning incident at the TMC’s Camac Street office, where Abhishek Banerjee alleged that armed intruders vandalized the premises and assaulted staff.

BJP MP Rahul Sinha went further, claiming the break-in was an inside job designed to facilitate the theft of sensitive documents. According to Sinha, the TMC leadership is attempting to manipulate public perception before police investigations uncover evidence of internal tampering. Locket Chatterjee echoed this skepticism, characterizing the violence as a symptom of the TMC's internal fragmentation rather than an external assault. Meanwhile, TMC MP Derek O'Brien maintains that the state is facing a systemic breakdown, accusing the police of operating as political proxies for the BJP. He cited four months of rising intimidation against party workers as the catalyst for their request to meet President Droupadi Murmu and Governor RN Ravi.
