Himachal University Teachers Rally Against State Recruitment Overhaul

HPUTWA president Nitin Vyas warned that stripping universities of their hiring authority will stifle academic flexibility and introduce bureaucratic delays. He argued that routine administrative and academic matters should remain under internal control to prevent the erosion of institutional identity. The association maintains that the state should address specific allegations of irregularities through targeted audits and legal processes rather than imposing sweeping restrictions on all six state universities.

Beyond recruitment, the protest underscored the union's ongoing struggle for the implementation of the Career Advancement Scheme. Secretary Ankush Bhardwaj emphasized that the proposed bill is not an isolated administrative change but a broader threat to the dignity of the higher education system. The faculty maintains that merit and research excellence must remain the primary drivers of career progression, cautioning that centralizing control undermines the very foundation of academic achievement.
