SCO Leaders Convene in Bishkek for 26th Annual Summit

Host and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov opened the roundtable discussions, setting the stage for a summit that now represents a quarter of global GDP. The event brings together a diverse assembly of 10 member states, 15 partners, and two observers to address regional security and economic integration. Alongside the core membership, an expanded "SCO Plus" format has drawn leaders including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the Kyrgyz capital.

For India, the summit serves as a platform to mark the organization's 25th anniversary and emphasize New Delhi’s priorities in regional connectivity and security. Prime Minister Modi is expected to outline these objectives during his address, focusing on strategies to foster cooperation among the broader coalition. As the bloc expands its influence, the discussions in Bishkek aim to solidify long-term diplomatic ties and address emerging regional threats through multilateral interaction.
