G Parameshwara Dismisses Valmiki Corporation Scam Allegations

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara has accused the opposition of peddling falsehoods regarding the Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation, challenging the BJP to provide evidence for their claims of a massive financial irregularity while asserting that the majority of diverted funds have already been recovered.

Parameshwara disputed the opposition’s figure of 187 crore rupees, noting that of the 84 crore rupees in question, 79 crore has been successfully retrieved. He criticized the BJP for stalling the State Assembly rather than engaging in a formal debate, insisting that the government remains prepared to address any documented records the opposition might present. The controversy recently prompted the resignation of Minister B Nagendra, who stepped down from the state Cabinet voluntarily amid the ongoing scrutiny.

In response, the BJP has signaled a escalation in its campaign against the ruling Congress government. Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, announced a 10-day Padayatra scheduled from September 1 to September 10, culminating in Ballari. Narayanaswamy argued that the diversion of funds intended for oppressed communities exposes a long-standing pattern of neglect by the Congress party. Joined by MLC N Ravi Kumar, the opposition continues to demand accountability for the alleged misuse of welfare resources reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
