The visit, confirmed by Punjab BJP co-incharge Narinder Singh Raina, focuses on direct engagement with functionaries to assess ground-level preparedness. Santhosh began his tour in Patiala and Bathinda, where he met representatives from over a dozen districts, including Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Muktsar Sahib. The itinerary continues through August 25 with sessions in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Amritsar, concluding with a strategy meeting for state general secretaries.

These sessions occur as political circles debate a potential reunion between the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal. Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia recently signaled interest in renewing the partnership, citing the need for social harmony in a sensitive border state. The two parties parted ways in 2020 following a disagreement over federal farm laws, ending a long-standing alliance that once thrived under Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Parkash Singh Badal.
