The offer, issued by Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Hodgson of the 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion, targets soldiers reenlisting between August 1 and November 14. This window aligns with the November 19 launch of the latest installment in the long-running Rockstar Games franchise. The series, which debuted in 1997, remains a cultural phenomenon with fans waiting over a decade since the last major release.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Angel Tomko, a spokesperson for the 3rd Infantry Division, the unconventional strategy has already gained traction. Out of 130 eligible personnel, 20 soldiers have secured their leave by signing the two-year reenlistment contracts. The initiative highlights the military's ongoing efforts to incentivize service in an era where recruitment and retention challenges persist across the armed forces.
