Bhupendra Patel Courts Silicon Valley to Anchor Gujarat’s Tech Future

Bhupendra Patel has become the first Gujarat Chief Minister to visit the United States in a quarter-century, arriving in San Francisco to position his state as a strategic partner for global technology giants. Leading a high-level delegation, Patel aims to bridge Silicon Valley’s innovation with Gujarat’s industrial infrastructure.

Patel spent his second day in the U.S. hosting roundtable discussions with over 100 executives representing sectors from semiconductors and artificial intelligence to cybersecurity. He argued that the state offers a comprehensive support system, promising a stable framework of land, power, and high-caliber talent to attract long-term research and manufacturing investments. The delegation specifically invited these industry leaders to attend the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in January 2027.

Industrial Partnerships and Expansion

Bilateral meetings focused on tangible industrial integration. Discussions with Analog Devices revolved around securing ultra-stable manufacturing environments for wafer fabrication, building on the company’s existing collaboration with Tata Electronics. Modutek Corporation explored the potential for establishing wafer-fab support equipment and R&D facilities in Sanand and GIFT City.

Beyond hardware, the delegation engaged with Applied Materials to leverage Gujarat’s chemical manufacturing base for semiconductor materials. Further talks with TDK Ventures and the Wadhwani Foundation targeted the startup ecosystem and vocational training, aiming to institutionalize innovation through a new dedicated center. Patel’s pitch emphasizes that Gujarat is moving beyond traditional investment solicitation to offer an end-to-end environment for international expansion.
