Harish Rao Accuses Telangana Government of Land Listing Chaos

Former Telangana minister T Harish Rao has condemned the Congress administration for placing entire residential colonies under the 22A prohibited lands list. Speaking at a protest in Malkajgiri, the BRS leader alleged that the state is fueling widespread anxiety among property owners through arbitrary and unverified administrative restrictions on land registrations.

Rao likened the government's approach to a "stone in the hands of a madman," arguing that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is manufacturing crises rather than addressing systemic land issues. He specifically highlighted that many properties, which were legally regularized following the 2008 repeal of the Urban Land Ceiling Act, have now been unjustly frozen under the Indian Registration Act.

The BRS deputy floor leader demanded that Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy accept moral responsibility and resign rather than scapegoating subordinate officials. Beyond the registration crisis, Rao criticized the state for diverting funds away from essential welfare programs like Kalyana Lakshmi. He insisted on immediate transparency, warning that the current 22A process risks being weaponized to obscure illegal land occupancies.
