Paul Merchants Finance Debuts Loan Product Backed by Silver

With the Reserve Bank of India greenlighting silver as valid collateral, Paul Merchants Finance Private Limited is moving to formalize a massive, previously unorganized credit market. The company’s new lending product allows households and businesses to unlock liquidity from their silver holdings through a regulated, structured financial pathway.

This shift targets the vast quantities of silver held in Indian households, particularly in rural areas, where informal lenders have long held a monopoly. By integrating silver into formal credit ecosystems, PMFPL aims to displace unregulated channels with transparent, bank-backed terms. Loans will range from ₹2,000 to ₹15 lakh, covering various forms of the precious metal.

Chairman S. Paul noted that the initiative will fundamentally alter how individuals leverage their physical assets. To support the rollout, the group plans to open dedicated branches and scale operations across its network, positioning the firm to capture a significant share of this newly unlocked asset class.
