The proximity of Ozon’s site to warehouses operated by its primary rival, Wildberries, complicates the threat landscape. Since July 18, Ukrainian forces have struck at least a dozen Wildberries locations, leading analysts to warn that Ozon’s infrastructure was an inevitable target.

Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s drone forces, fueled speculation regarding the incident with a cryptic Telegram post stating that the "ozone concentration exceeds the critical norm." Ozon had already acknowledged the heightened risk to its distribution network on July 30, anticipating that the campaign against Russian e-commerce hubs would eventually encompass their own sites.
