BJD leader Pritiranjan Gharai condemned the timing of the Chief Minister's travel, describing the state's flood management as reactive rather than preventative. Gharai noted that families in affected regions remain stranded, struggling to access basic necessities while official communication remains opaque. The opposition demands an immediate shift toward ground-level coordination and a transparent audit of disaster response protocols.

Senior Congress leader Shrikant Jena echoed these frustrations, asserting that timely warnings could have significantly mitigated the current devastation. According to official data, the situation remains dire in districts like Bhadrak, where Collector Dillip Rautrai reported that 61 Gram Panchayats and 261 villages have been submerged. Jena emphasized that the loss of life and the scale of displacement reflect a systemic lack of proactiveness that has left the administration scrambling to contain the damage rather than heading it off.
