Congress MLAs lobby for cabinet spots as Karnataka expansion looms

Ashok Pattan confirmed his aspiration for a seat, pointing to the expected arrival of AICC general secretary KC Venugopal as the catalyst for the final list. Similarly, Nayana Motamma emphasized the potential for a Monday swearing-in, citing conversations with senior leaders and advocating for increased representation for women and younger politicians.

Confidence remains high among senior party members, including Shivalinge Gowda and Shivaraj Tangadagi, who both expressed certainty that the expansion process would conclude by Monday. Despite the optimism on the ground, the official line remains cautious; Randeep Surjewala declined to confirm a specific timeline, deferring to the Chief Minister and the state party president. Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara previously clarified that the final structure of the cabinet rests solely with the party high command following internal deliberations. With the cabinet currently operating with only 14 members since June 3, the pressure to finalize the ministerial lineup has become the primary focus for the state's legislative agenda.
