Congress MP Manish Tewari has initiated a push for an adjournment motion, seeking to halt regular business to debate a proposed anti-defection law. This move targets the increasing frequency of mass political defections, a recurring friction point in current parliamentary dynamics.

Legislative activity remains heavy, with Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal scheduled to introduce the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026. If passed, the bill will increase the sanctioned strength of the Supreme Court from 33 to 37 judges. Simultaneously, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to table an amendment to the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act in the Rajya Sabha, proposing to criminalize any obstruction of the national song, Vande Mataram.
