Brown, who claims a past as a US Navy officer, allegedly traversed Thailand and Sri Lanka by sea before entering India in November 2025. Following an extended stay in Goa and a brief stop in Bengaluru, he traveled north toward the Nepal border. Local authorities apprehended him as he attempted to evade the 22nd Battalion of the SSB during a routine patrol.

Upon his arrest, security forces recovered two mobile phones and 31,460 rupees in cash, but no travel documentation. Assistant Commandant Priya Yadav confirmed that Brown was transferred to the Sonauli police, where he now faces charges under the Immigration and Foreigners Act. Investigators are currently working to verify his identity and his reported military background while the case proceeds through the local legal system.
