The drones, reportedly crossing the border into the Bryansk region, were smuggled across the country using vehicles with false bottoms. Investigators tracking the shipment identified the intended destinations as the Shagol air base in Chelyabinsk and the Ukrainka base in the Amur region. Authorities successfully apprehended the suspects before the payloads could be deployed.
Each drone carried more than 1 kilogram of explosives and utilized autonomous navigation software, a configuration security officials compared to the 2025 'Spider's Web' incident. The recovered components originated from manufacturers in the United States, Britain, Canada, and Sweden. This interception serves as a flashpoint in ongoing diplomatic friction, with Moscow characterizing the attempted attack as a direct escalation facilitated by Western military support for Ukrainian operations.
