The president’s comments follow his formal declaration that the Memorandum of Understanding with Iran is dead. Dismissing Iranian negotiators as "scum," Trump signaled a hardline shift, noting that recent U.S. strikes on 80 sites across Iran rendered further diplomacy a waste of time. While he allows representatives to continue talks, he publicly questioned the utility of such efforts.
Hostility has intensified following the funeral of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. At the Grand Mosalla complex in Tehran, speakers and attendees openly called for the deaths of both Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. During the service, poet Mohammad Rasouli told the crowd that "Trump’s murder is our responsibility," a sentiment echoed by posters and graffiti demanding revenge for the death of the former Iranian leader.
