EU Plans Fresh Sanctions Targeting Russia’s Military Complex

“The more Moscow attacks civilians, the more sanctions must be imposed,” stated EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on Thursday. Signaling a strategic shift, the bloc is preparing a new package of punitive measures specifically aimed at entities that sustain the Russian military-industrial complex amid ongoing strikes on civilian infrastructure.

The proposed escalation follows a recent surge in military aggression across Ukraine. By tightening economic pressure, Brussels intends to disrupt the supply chains and financial networks fueling the conflict. Kallas, outlining her agenda on social media, made it clear that the intensity of the EU’s response will remain tethered to the frequency and nature of attacks on non-combatants.

This move represents a broader effort to exhaust the resources available to the Russian defense sector. While the exact scope of the new sanctions is currently being finalized, the focus remains on closing existing loopholes and broadening the list of blacklisted organizations linked to the Kremlin's war effort.
