Manish Tewari Sidelined in Punjab Congress Leadership Shake-up

A cryptic social media post from veteran MP Manish Tewari has laid bare internal fractures within the Punjab Congress following a strategic leadership overhaul. Despite his four-decade tenure with the party, Tewari was conspicuously excluded from the new committee appointments tasked with preparing the organization for the 2027 Assembly elections.

The All India Congress Committee signaled a shift in its state strategy by elevating former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi to chair the Campaign Committee, while Vijay Inder Singla was tapped to lead the Election Management and Coordination Committee. These appointments underscore a drive to consolidate control ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle.

Tewari, responding to his omission, lamented the "insecurities of individuals and institutions" within the party structure. While he expressed long-standing loyalty to the Congress, his public invocation of the phrase "Que sera, sera" suggests a resignation to his diminished influence. This exclusion of a senior parliamentarian highlights the ongoing tension between established party figures and the current leadership's vision for the Punjab unit.
