Baghel argued that the government is prioritizing political optics over fundamental governance, pointing to crumbling school infrastructure and the mounting financial strain on farmers battling rising fuel costs and counterfeit fertilizers. He characterized the current collection process as a systematic exploitation of public faith, suggesting a pattern of malpractice that extends far beyond a single administrative failure.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav echoed these concerns, warning that authorities are likely to prioritize a cover-up over genuine accountability as new details surface. The political pressure has now moved to the legal arena, with a fresh petition filed in the Supreme Court by advocates Ajay Kumar Rai and Dinesh Kumar Yadav. They are demanding a CBI-led Special Investigation Team to probe missing funds and mismanagement within the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The petition calls for the preservation of all digital and financial records, including audit reports and CCTV footage, to prevent the potential destruction of evidence regarding the utilization of temple donations.
