Colombia Registrar Confirms Presidential Election Results

A razor-thin margin in the Colombian presidential runoff remains unchanged following a final audit, as the national registrar reported a discrepancy of only 0.003% between the initial count and the definitive tally. The audit confirms the narrow victory of right-wing lawyer Abelardo De La Espriella over challenger Ivan Cepeda.

De La Espriella secured 49.6% of the vote in the initial count, placing him less than 1% ahead of Cepeda. The verification process, conducted by electoral authorities, was the final hurdle for the results to be officially codified.

Cepeda had previously withheld a formal concession, opting to wait for the conclusion of the electoral review to confirm the integrity of the process. With the final count now mirroring the preliminary data, the electoral outcome stands as verified.
