West Bengal Honors Syama Prasad Mookerjee on Balidan Diwas

Standing before the statue of Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee in Kolkata, Suvendu Adhikari marked 'Balidan Diwas' by crediting the late leader with the very creation of West Bengal and the integration of Jammu and Kashmir into India’s constitutional framework.

Adhikari, joined by Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta, emphasized Mookerjee’s nationalist legacy while noting the significance of his slogan, "One Nation, One Constitution, One Flag, One Leader." According to the leader, the current administration intends to align its governance with these foundational ideals. He highlighted that this specific commemoration marks a historic shift, as the state government, in coordination with the Information and Cultural Affairs Ministry and the Kolkata Corporation, organized the tribute for the first time since Independence.

Beyond the historical reflection, Adhikari turned toward the current political climate in the state. He asserted that recent public sentiment has served as a decisive response to the administration of Mamata Banerjee, suggesting that the electorate has already delivered its final verdict on the state's leadership.
