Congress MP Pramod Tiwari has challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to examine his own party’s history of leadership turnover before criticizing the Karnataka government. The retort follows Modi’s claims that public dissatisfaction necessitated a change in the state’s leadership, a narrative Tiwari dismissed as hypocritical in light of BJP’s internal record.

Tiwari questioned the Prime Minister’s focus on the transition in Karnataka, specifically citing the BJP’s past patterns of replacing Chief Ministers in Gujarat and Uttarakhand. He challenged the Prime Minister to clarify whether those shifts were also driven by widespread public grievance or internal party instability. The Congress lawmaker argued that the BJP lacks the moral standing to critique others while ignoring their own history of leadership shifts.

These comments emerged after Prime Minister Modi addressed a crowd in Surat, attributing the leadership change in Karnataka to alleged public discontent with Congress governance. Simultaneously, the state transitioned to a new administration as DK Shivakumar took the oath as the 34th Chief Minister, stepping in to succeed Siddaramaiah. The exchange highlights the sharpening political rhetoric between the two parties as they maneuver for influence ahead of future electoral cycles.
