The Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal (United) have unveiled their slates for the upcoming biennial Bihar Legislative Council elections, setting the stage for a transition as current members prepare to vacate their seats. The high-stakes contest, scheduled for June 18, will see a mix of veteran figures and new nominees.

The BJP Central Election Committee confirmed its roster on Friday, selecting Sheela Pandit, Pawan Singh, Dr. Sanjay Mayukh, and Anil Kumar Thakur to contest the polls. Following the announcement, Pandit expressed gratitude to party leadership, framing her nomination as a reflection of the party’s broader focus on regional development and social upliftment.

Janata Dal (United) finalized its own strategy shortly after, putting forward Nishant Kumar, Bharti Mehta, and Shivrani Devi Prajapati. As the June 18 deadline approaches, the Election Commission has established strict timelines for candidate nominations and withdrawals. Because members of the legislative assembly serve as the electorate, the outcome will directly reshape the council’s composition as retiring incumbents depart.
