Tejashwi Yadav Renounces Security Amid Bihar Eviction Dispute

Tejashwi Yadav has discarded his state-provided security detail, escalating the confrontation between the opposition and the Nitish Kumar administration. The move follows a government notice forcing his parents, former Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, to vacate their long-standing residence at 10 Circular Road in Patna.

The withdrawal of protection mirrors a broader pattern affecting the Yadav family, who recently saw their Z-plus security status revoked. Rashtriya Janata Dal spokesperson Shakti Yadav characterized the government’s actions as a targeted political vendetta. He argued that the state is selectively stripping security from opposition figures while maintaining protection for members of the BJP and the ruling NDA coalition.

At the heart of the standoff lies the future of the 10 Circular Road bungalow, a site that serves as a symbolic base for the RJD. Although the government provided an alternative residence, Rabri Devi has resisted the move. With the property reassigned to Bihar Minister Nand Kishore Ram, the eviction notice has deepened existing tensions, leaving the opposition leader to traverse the state without an entourage as a direct challenge to the current administration.
