Pedro Sanchez Rejects Corruption Allegations Facing Socialist Party

Speaking from Montenegro on Friday, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez dismissed claims of his involvement in a scheme to obstruct corruption inquiries. He characterized the ongoing legal pressure targeting his Socialist Party allies as a calculated political maneuver designed to destabilize his administration rather than a legitimate pursuit of justice.

The High Court recently ordered the seizure of digital and physical records from Socialist Party headquarters, widening a probe into alleged administrative manipulation. Investigators are scrutinizing the conduct of former Sanchez associate Santos Cerdan, alongside several police officials and private sector figures suspected of steering government contracts and favors to benefit party interests.

While Cerdan maintains his innocence, the Prime Minister framed the investigation as a localized issue involving a small minority of individuals rather than a systemic failure. Sanchez insisted his government remains transparent and untainted, despite the intensifying judicial scrutiny. Although he has not been named as a suspect in the ongoing cases, he framed the legal proceedings as a broader campaign aimed at his removal from office.
