Putin Urges Non-Interference in India-China Diplomatic Ties

Addressing the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, Vladimir Putin characterized the diplomatic relationship between India and China as a delicate, multi-faceted balance. The Russian leader cautioned against external meddling in the regional dynamic, emphasizing that both New Delhi and Beijing possess the internal mechanisms necessary to navigate their complex mutual concerns.

Putin pointed to the shifting architecture of the global economy, noting the rising influence of major powers including the United States, China, Russia, and India. He specifically cited India’s third-place ranking in global GDP alongside Russia’s fourth-place position as evidence of a multipolar reality. By highlighting the ongoing diplomatic efforts between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he signaled his belief in the efficacy of direct bilateral engagement over outside arbitration.

Regarding Russia’s own positioning, the president maintained that Moscow’s bilateral ties with both nations remain independent and friction-free. He argued that these relationships serve as a stabilizing factor within multilateral frameworks such as BRICS, where the alignment of these major economies remains a priority for regional cohesion.
