Johnson discussed his work on the anime during an election-trail conversation with Senator Taylor Rehmet, saying the composing was fun and earned him “street cred” with his children. “If you grew up watching ‘Dragon Ball Z,’ you might know me better than you think,” he said, adding that he composed the musical scores for 67 episodes and five movies. Variety reported that his film credits include “Dragon Ball Z: The World’s Strongest,” “The Tree of Might,” “Broly: Second Coming,” “Fusion Reborn” and “Wrath of the Dragon.”
A corporate litigator, Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Arizona and a law degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He called his election a “tremendous honour” and responsibility, saying Texans had chosen an attorney general to represent them, serve the state’s interests and uphold the rule of law. He said he had work ahead and looked forward to what could be accomplished.
Johnson has also warned that his office will sue the Trump administration when he believes the federal government is overstepping in Texas. In 2018, he unseated a well-funded conservative state senator, flipping a seat that had been under Republican control for decades. Over the following eight years, he developed a reputation as a bipartisan dealmaker who secured substantive wins in a Republican-dominated chamber.
