Trump Pardon Recipient Charged With Threatening January 6 Judges

Cleveland Meredith, a man previously pardoned by Donald Trump for his role in the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, faces new federal charges for allegedly threatening the lives of judges who oversaw cases related to the riot. The 58-year-old Georgia resident was arrested following a series of violent social media posts.

Federal prosecutors in Atlanta allege that Meredith posted "ALL J6 Federal JUDGES will be EXECUTED!" on Facebook this past April. Beyond these statements, court filings indicate he recently intensified his rhetoric, warning that "firing squads will commence" following the midterm elections. His legal team has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the new complaint.

Meredith’s history with the justice system dates back to the 2021 Capitol breach, where he was found in Washington with a rifle, a pistol, and 2,500 rounds of ammunition. He previously pleaded guilty to making interstate threats, including a message sent to a relative expressing an intent to shoot then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Although he was sentenced to 28 months in prison for those offenses, he received a presidential pardon from Trump after the former president returned to office in January 2025.
