Swiss fund market hits record 1.9 trillion franc valuation

The Swiss fund market surged to a historic peak of 1,927 billion francs by the end of September 2026, marking a 10.8 percent expansion. While market performance and currency shifts provided the primary momentum, investors injected 32.7 billion francs in new capital, signaling a clear shift toward income-oriented assets.

Bond funds captured the lion's share of new inflows, outpacing equity funds, which drew 9.7 billion francs. Money market and commodity funds trailed with 3.3 billion each. Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) remain the preferred vehicle, accounting for roughly two-thirds of the fresh capital entering the market.

Adrian Schatzmann, CEO of the Asset Management Association Switzerland, notes that the preference for bonds despite recent valuation dips highlights a strategic pivot. Investors are prioritizing steady current income and stability over the volatility of short-term capital gains. Meanwhile, the market landscape remains heavily consolidated; the ten largest providers control 75 percent of total assets. UBS maintains its dominance with a 36.9 percent market share, followed by Swisscanto at 10.6 percent and Blackrock at 10.4 percent.
