The bulk of the gains originated from foreign currency positions, which contributed 43.3 billion francs to the bottom line. Currency-related fluctuations played a pivotal role, adding 29.8 billion francs as the franc softened against major denominations. Market activity proved mixed; while interest-bearing securities suffered price losses of 22.6 billion francs, equity instruments offset the decline with gains of 23.7 billion francs. Dividend and interest income streams remained robust, bringing in 10.7 billion and 2.3 billion francs respectively.
Gold holdings also provided a modest boost, with valuation gains reaching 1.2 billion francs as the price per kilogram rose to 112,118 francs by the end of September. Despite these figures, the bank maintains that its financial results remain highly sensitive to volatile gold, capital, and exchange markets, making full-year projections difficult to determine.
