The deal leverages €300 million in counter-guarantees from the EIB, allowing Crédit Agricole CIB to issue up to €600 million in bank guarantees for manufacturers. By sharing the risk of these financial instruments, the arrangement frees up commercial capacity to meet surging demand for electrical components. This capital injection is designed to accelerate the modernization of infrastructure, ensuring that hardware production keeps pace with the integration of renewable energy sources.
EIB Vice-President Ambroise Fayolle framed the initiative as a strategic extension of the bank’s existing support for the green transition, following a similar €1 billion guarantee program for the wind energy sector launched in late 2025. For Crédit Agricole CIB, the move aligns with its 'ACT 2028' strategic plan, which seeks to provide tangible support for clients across the industrial energy value chain. The operation functions under the EIB’s broader €1.5 billion Energy Grids Package, which remains central to the EU’s effort to fortify its electricity infrastructure throughout 2026.
