Out of 309 total urban bodies across the state, results for 301 were announced this week, leaving the Congress trailing with 94 seats. Seven independent candidates and three representatives from smaller parties, including the AAP, CPI(M), and RLP, claimed the remaining spots. With 32 positions previously filled unopposed, attention now shifts to the remaining contests in Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Kota, scheduled for September 25.

At the BJP headquarters in Jaipur, state president Madan Rathore framed the victory as a public rejection of Congress rhetoric. He pointed to Pali as a microcosm of the shift, noting that an independent candidate there secured 30 votes compared to just three for the official Congress nominee. Conversely, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal characterized the results as a moral victory. He alleged that the BJP utilized police force and financial influence to distort the outcome, further criticizing the state's recent delimitation process as a tool designed to favor the ruling party.
