BJP Accuses Congress of Ideological Shift Following Ansari Remarks

Trivedi seized upon comments made by Ansari during the 3rd AG Noorani Memorial Lecture, held at the India Islamic Cultural Centre on September 18. During the event, Ansari invoked a 2019 book by the late constitutional expert AG Noorani, which documented Nehru’s perspective on the RSS as recorded by former Foreign Secretary Jagat Singh Gundevia. By resurrecting these historical remarks, Ansari aimed to highlight modern challenges to civic nationalism, a move Trivedi interpreted as a calculated revelation of the opposition party’s current ideological trajectory.

The BJP leader contended that the citation serves as a definitive roadmap of the Congress party's drift toward ultra-Left politics. He argued that the political discourse championed by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is not a modern deviation but a direct continuation of Nehruvian ideology. By framing the Congress as fundamentally aligned with fringe narratives, Trivedi sought to link the party's current leadership to a long-standing historical stance that the BJP views as antithetical to its own nationalist vision.
