Mohamed Abu Selmia, head of Al Shifa Hospital, confirmed the casualties following the targeted blast, though the Israeli military has maintained silence regarding the event. While a U.S.-brokered truce established in October 2025 initially slowed the pace of combat, the agreement remains under intense strain as Israeli strikes continue to target militant positions across the strip.
Hamas leadership contends that these actions represent a deliberate breach of the ceasefire, further complicating President Donald Trump’s broader peace proposal for troop withdrawals and disarmament. Since the agreement was signed, health officials report that over 1,300 Palestinians have been killed, the vast majority of them civilians. In the same period, four Israeli soldiers have died, though Hamas provides little information on their own military losses.
