Banerjee characterized the incident as a breakdown of the rule of law, noting that police failed to respond for two hours despite urgent pleas. He further alleged that both his Amtala and Camac Street offices have been ransacked over the past month, suggesting a climate of impunity for BJP activists.

Bhattacharya countered these claims by framing the unrest as a symptom of simmering internal disputes within the TMC. He suggested that party members are targeting one another due to past grievances involving leadership decisions. As tensions escalate, the TMC has reached out to President Droupadi Murmu and Governor RN Ravi, seeking intervention regarding what they describe as a systematic misuse of state police. This political standoff follows an FIR recently filed against Banerjee and MP Derek O'Brien regarding a separate incident involving the removal of an unauthorized hoarding.
