Kedar Nath Gupta demands apology from Rashid Alvi over Air Marshal remarks

Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Bank Chairman Kedar Nath Gupta has condemned Congress leader Rashid Alvi for questioning the appointment of retired Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra as CEO of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, labeling the criticism an insult to the military and demanding a public retraction.

Gupta argued that Mishra’s appointment reflects a commitment to national service, asserting that questioning the motives behind placing a high-ranking officer in a leadership role undermines the dedication of military personnel. He stated that the trust is focused on ensuring capable management to prevent financial mismanagement, promising that any wrongdoing will be met with strict accountability.

Alvi had previously suggested that the appointment of a former Air Chief to oversee the temple trust warranted scrutiny, specifically referencing a past military mission known as Operation Sindoor. His remarks coincided with broader political friction, as CPI MP P. Sandosh Kumar separately alleged that funds collected for the temple project have been subject to significant misappropriation. Kumar challenged the leadership of the RSS-BJP-controlled trust to provide a transparent account of the donations, claiming that the lack of explanation from the central government constitutes a failure to address serious financial concerns.
