Iran Threatens New Strategy Following US Strikes Near Strait of Hormuz

“With these desperate struggles, you will not only fail to escape the depths of the hell you have created for yourselves, you will soon see that Iran's new strategy will shatter your foundations,” declared Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, in a defiant message posted to X on Tuesday.

Iran Threatens New Strategy Following US Strikes Near Strait of Hormuz

The warning followed a significant escalation in the Middle East, as President Donald Trump announced a fresh wave of large-scale strikes against Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz. Trump justified the military action as retaliation for an alleged attempt by Iran to deploy sea mines in the strategic waterway and for firing eight missiles at an American military base in Jordan, all of which were intercepted. The US Central Command confirmed the strikes, citing repeated IRGC aggression against commercial shipping and deployed service members.

Tehran countered by claiming it had successfully targeted US military installations across Jordan, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Erbil. Iranian officials framed these strikes as an exercise of their inherent right to self-defense, while simultaneously warning regional neighbors against permitting the United States to utilize their territory for further military operations. With Trump promising even harsher consequences for any Iranian retaliation, the conflict threatens to expand into a broader regional confrontation.
