Yogi Adityanath Launches UPCOS to Secure Outsourced Workforce Rights

The Uttar Pradesh Outsourced Services Corporation (UPCOS) serves as a regulatory body designed to standardize hiring practices and protect workers from exploitation. By moving recruitment and management to a centralized digital platform, the government intends to eliminate the influence of party-affiliated intermediaries who previously controlled hiring processes. Adityanath emphasized that the state’s development trajectory relies heavily on the combined efforts of both permanent and outsourced personnel, ranging from urban sanitation staff to essential governance workers.

Under the new system, the government plans to provide comprehensive security coverage for approximately 20 lakh people. The initiative mandates direct salary payments and includes mandatory contributions to the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees' State Insurance (ESI). Beyond financial compensation, the Chief Minister framed the project as a mechanism for building institutional trust, ensuring that workers have a direct channel for grievances and a clear record of their professional performance. By shifting away from transactional labor practices, the administration claims it is working to bridge the economic disparities that fuel social discrimination, ultimately securing the long-term well-being of the families dependent on these wages.
