US Precision Strike Missile Linked to Civilian Deaths in Iran

Monitoring non-profit Airwars identified the weapon through an analysis of blast patterns, satellite imagery, and security footage, noting that the strikes caused lethal damage up to 50 metres from detonation points. Six weapons experts, including two former defense officials, concluded the damage profile aligns with the PrSM’s capabilities rather than local Iranian hardware. One blast over the Shahid Naimi Sports Hall damaged a school 170 metres away, while another in the Tal-e Khandagh neighborhood resulted in the death of 2-year-old Avina Barzegar, struck by a pellet that traveled 50 metres.

While the US Central Command confirmed the PrSM saw its "historic first" combat use during the Iran operation, it has denied responsibility for the Lamerd incident. Michael Meier, a former US Army advisor on the laws of war, questioned the tactical necessity of deploying such a munition in a civilian area. Despite the mounting evidence and scrutiny regarding the weapon's impact on non-combatants, the Pentagon recently finalized a $4 billion contract with Lockheed Martin to quadruple production of the missile system.
