Himachal CM Sukhu Claims Dictatorship Trend in Rahul Gandhi Case

The protest, which drew top state Congress leaders including Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, was sparked by the legal action taken against Gandhi following his public criticism of comments made about Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. Sukhu argued that Gandhi was targeted for demanding accountability after Kharge was allegedly insulted during a rally in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, where speakers reportedly called for the "purification" of the event site.

"Have you ever heard of an FIR being registered over a press conference?" Sukhu asked reporters, labeling the move an unprecedented escalation. He contended that the BJP is attempting to intimidate the opposition because they fear Gandhi’s rising public support. The Chief Minister emphasized that the party would not tolerate the disparagement of a leader from the Dalit community, insisting that the legal focus should have remained on those who insulted Kharge rather than on the man who demanded justice for the slight. According to Sukhu, the state administration remains steadfast in its opposition to what he described as a shift toward authoritarianism within the national political landscape.
