Akhilesh Yadav Accuses UP Government of Caste-Based Police Violence

Yadav rebranded the STF as the 'Swajatiya Torture Force,' arguing that marginalized groups—specifically the PDA coalition of backward, Dalit, and minority communities—bear the brunt of state aggression. He cited the recent death of a Dalit youth in a Badaun police station, where official reports of cardiac arrest allegedly clash with available CCTV footage. According to the SP chief, systematic bias permeates the law enforcement hierarchy, noting that 10 of Badaun’s 22 police stations are led by officers from the Chief Minister's own caste.

Beyond policing, Yadav accused the BJP of electoral manipulation ahead of upcoming state polls. He alleged that the government intends to conduct a special voter revision to register migrants from states like Bihar and Chhattisgarh, effectively padding the rolls. The SP leader also challenged the government's economic and educational record, claiming that while officials tout investment MoUs, 26,000 schools have been closed under the current administration. Addressing the recent controversy involving the 'purification' of a venue following a visit by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Yadav dismissed such practices as regressive, sharing that he and his party have faced similar ritualized discrimination in Kannauj.
