Nepal President Paudel Thanks India for Disaster Relief Efforts

President Paudel expressed his gratitude through official correspondence to President Droupadi Murmu, acknowledging the solidarity shown by New Delhi during the crisis. The relief efforts are multifaceted: India has dispatched an 11-member specialized medical and tunnel rescue team to assist local authorities. By Friday, a third flight carrying essential supplies arrived in Kathmandu, where the cargo was received by Nepal’s minister Mahabir Pun.

Evacuation operations have successfully returned stranded foreign nationals to safety. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that 21 residents from Tamil Nadu and 63 workers from the Trishuli-I hydropower project were among those repatriated. Additionally, the Bihar government coordinated the rescue of 100 pilgrims from Maharashtra, escorting them from the Nepal border through Sitamarhi before facilitating their train travel home. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the recovery efforts remain concentrated in the Chitwan district, where 233 bodies have been located so far.
