Punjab BJP Disciplines Three Leaders Over Sangrur Press Conference

Three senior Punjab BJP figures face formal disciplinary action after airing internal grievances at an unsanctioned Sangrur press conference on August 25. The move signals a tightening of party discipline as leadership attempts to quell growing discontent regarding recent organizational reshuffles and the perceived sidelining of veteran party cadre.

The Disciplinary Committee, led by former Union Minister Som Parkash, issued show-cause notices on August 27 to Randeep Singh Deol, Maninder Singh Kapial, and Jatinder Kalra. The document demands a written explanation within seven days regarding their specific remarks and the objective of the public briefing. Failure to provide a satisfactory defense will trigger formal sanctions under the party constitution.

This friction arrives at a critical juncture for the state unit. As the party prepares for upcoming elections, BL Santosh, the national organization in-charge, has arrived for a two-day assessment of grassroots readiness. The leadership is clearly aiming to project unity, viewing the public airing of internal organizational complaints as a direct threat to the party’s credibility and public standing.
