Trump described the Iranian leader’s injuries as extensive, specifically noting damage to the left side of his body, including the arm and leg. He suggested that if Tehran is hiding a death, the state is performing an elaborate deception, noting that Iranian officials frequently claim to consult with Khamenei for final approvals on policy. The president expressed skepticism toward the regime's integrity, labeling the group as less than honorable.
Contradicting these claims, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian recently insisted that Khamenei is in good health, citing a productive seven-hour meeting held earlier in August. This follows a series of media releases from Iranian outlets like Fars News and Mehr, which shared archival or undated footage in an attempt to quell mounting international rumors. Israeli outlets, including Channel 14, previously reported that Khamenei had been in critical condition following the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in joint US-Israeli strikes on February 28.
