India readies disaster relief as floods ravage Nepal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirmed that rescue operations are currently being coordinated between the two nations, with New Delhi offering all possible humanitarian assistance. The crisis began near the Nepal-China border, where a sudden rise in water levels at Furke Khola threatens to send a destructive wave downstream through the Gandak River basin.

To mitigate potential impact on Indian territory, the National Disaster Response Force has moved teams into West Champaran and Muzaffarpur. Inspector General Narendra Singh Bundela noted that current deployments in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh serve as a precautionary buffer, with additional units held in reserve should local administrations request further intervention. The situation remains under close observation as authorities track the movement of the floodwaters toward the border.
