Nepal Seeks Clarity on Flood Damage as India Offers Support

RSP spokesperson Jagdish Kharel confirmed that authorities are currently conducting a preliminary assessment of the destruction across six districts, including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Gorkha, Dhading, and Chitwan. While the government has mobilized relief mechanisms to address the loss of life and infrastructure, the true scale of the catastrophe remains under evaluation. Kharel noted that the support from New Delhi is particularly essential, drawing comparisons to the collaborative efforts seen during the 2015 earthquake.

Regarding reports of missing foreign nationals, including Indian citizens, Kharel emphasized that current figures are unverified. The government has refrained from releasing specific numbers until field data is cross-checked and confirmed by official agencies. With the situation still evolving, the RSP and the Prime Minister’s Office continue to coordinate with the Foreign Ministry to determine whether an formal appeal for further international aid will be necessary.
