Chief Minister Rekha Gupta defended the initiative during the launch event at Talkatora Stadium, asserting that the program fulfills a key commitment to provide Rs 2,500 to women in the capital. According to the Chief Minister, the registration portal has seen 9.5 lakh sign-ups since its August 1 debut. The administration began distributing initial verification letters this week, with payments for August scheduled to reach accounts by September 1.
Gupta rejected claims of exclusivity, stating that there is no registration deadline or cap on the number of participants. She emphasized that the program remains an ongoing effort to bolster financial independence, noting that even those who registered late in August are entitled to the full monthly stipend.
