Sanjay Raut Declares Rahul Gandhi the Nation's Leading Opposition Voice

Following a strategic meeting at 10 Janpath, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has positioned Rahul Gandhi as the undisputed challenger to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting, which focused on national and Maharashtra-specific issues, has fueled fresh speculation regarding an imminent cabinet shakeup within the central government.

Raut credited the Congress leader with forcing the government onto the back foot, particularly citing the recent NEET-UG protests in the capital. According to the Shiv Sena MP, Gandhi’s growing influence is compelling the BJP to consider internal structural changes. However, Raut dismissed the potential for a minor cabinet reshuffle as insufficient, arguing that the core leadership remains the primary issue.

During a press conference in Mumbai, Raut launched a sharp critique of the current ministerial bench. He claimed that the public image of both Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah has suffered, suggesting that the BJP currently lacks a deep bench of effective ministers. While acknowledging the political weight of figures like Nitin Gadkari and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, he suggested that others are failing to deliver, ultimately hindering national development.

Speculation also turned toward the future of Maharashtra politics, with Raut reviving rumors that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis could be moved to a central role in Delhi. Raut asserted that internal discussions regarding the BJP’s leadership succession have already begun within the RSS, as the party struggles to identify a viable alternative to the Prime Minister.
