Jagan Mohan Reddy slams Andhra government over deepening drought

Addressing reporters in Tadepalli, the YSRCP leader claimed that the government failed to prepare for the El Nino weather pattern, leaving farmers without essential support or alternative crop seeds. He specifically pointed to the discontinuation of the previous administration's free crop insurance scheme as a primary factor depriving cultivators of fair market prices during this period of extreme climate stress.

The former Chief Minister also raised alarms regarding water security, warning that unmonitored power generation at the Srisailam reservoir threatens the stability of supplies for the Rayalaseema region. He asserted that if current rates of power production persist, water levels could drop to 854 feet within three weeks. Beyond the agricultural drought, he criticized the administration for remaining passive toward neighboring Telangana’s progress on the Mahatma Gandhi Lift Irrigation Scheme, while simultaneously neglecting concerns surrounding the recent DSC recruitment process.
