US Sanctions Four Indian Firms Over Ties to Iranian Petrochemical Trade

Four India-based companies and three nationals now face American sanctions for facilitating the sale and transport of Iranian petroleum products. The penalties, part of a broader crackdown dubbed Operation Economic Outcast, target specific entities accused of moving millions in illicit revenue to support the regime in Tehran.

The US State Department identified the targeted Indian firms as Portease Partners LLP, Sadashiva Overseas Ltd, PP Softtech Pvt Ltd, and Prakrutees Infra Impex India Pvt Ltd. According to Washington, Portease Partners acted as a customs broker to move Iranian shipments, while Sadashiva Overseas allegedly imported $69 million in petroleum products. PP Softtech and Prakrutees Infra were each linked to $25 million in similar imports.

Individual designations include Harish Ramchandra Rangi and Indrismiya Ashrafmiya Shekh, both partners at Portease, alongside Prashant Garg of PP Softtech. These designations represent a fraction of a wider enforcement action that swept up 60 individuals, entities, and vessels globally. While Washington maintains a policy of threatening secondary penalties for those continuing to trade with Iran, the State Department signaled a shift in regional posture by returning diplomatic personnel to several Middle Eastern missions, indicating a perceived cooling of immediate conflict risks.
